United Banc Card of TN

Mynt POS lets you enter restaurant orders, save checks, accept payments, and review sales reports within one system. For a table-service restaurant, that means you can keep a guest’s order and payment connected to the same check.

This walkthrough uses a small table-service restaurant setup, although Mynt also supports quick service restaurants and retail businesses. The process begins at the login screen, where employee accounts connect staff members to their sales and system permissions.

Key Takeaways

  • Mynt POS handles restaurant orders, saved checks, payments, and sales reports within one system.
  • Staff can attach dine-in orders to a restaurant section and table, or enter to-go and phone-in orders without a table.
  • Saved checks can be reopened to move the order, print details, add items, or take payment.
  • Staff can apply discounts, split checks, and accept multiple payment methods. Fast Tender offers another way to close a saved check.
  • The Item Sales Report can be filtered by date range and department, then printed or saved.

Log in and open the main sales screen

When Mynt opens, the first screen asks you to log in. The demonstration uses a manager account, but each employee can have an individual account so you can track their sales and control what they’re allowed to do within the software.

After logging in, you’ll arrive at the main sales screen. This is the starting point for creating orders, completing sales, opening reporting views, and accessing the other features available in Mynt.

For restaurant staff, the next step depends on the selected dining type. A dine-in check begins with a table selection, while a to-go or phone-in order can begin directly with menu items.

Select the restaurant section and table

To begin a dine-in order, select the section of the restaurant where the table is located. Mynt displays a custom map of that section, allowing you to choose the table associated with the check.

Once you’ve selected it, the software returns to the sales screen, ready for order entry. You can then tap menu items to add them to that table’s order. If your restaurant uses seat-level service, staff can track seats by associating each guest’s choices with the correct seat.

Add drinks, dishes, and available options

Tapping a couple of drinks adds them to the check, and a preview on the right side of the screen shows everything entered so far. Menu departments organize the available items; selecting the pasta department, for example, displays the pasta dishes on the menu.

Choosing a pasta dish brings up a prompt for soup or salad. In the demonstrated setup, you can select either option or both, and Mynt adds an upcharge according to the selection.

Other menu items use more limited choices. The steak prompts you to select one cooking temperature and one side item, rather than allowing multiple selections in either category. These item modifiers let staff select the available choices for each dish.

When the order is complete, a button saves it to the table and sends it to the kitchen. Mynt is then ready for the next order.

Enter to-go and phone-in orders without a table

An order doesn’t have to be attached to a dining-room table. If you start tapping menu items without selecting a table first, Mynt creates an order without a table assignment.

This is the process shown for to-go and phone-in orders. You enter the items through the sales screen, then send the order to the kitchen.

For an order without a table, Mynt asks for a name when you send it to the kitchen. That name appears on both the kitchen ticket and the POS saved-ticket list.

If your setup assigns a sequence number, staff can pair it with the customer’s name to distinguish similar tickets.

Staff can use the name to find the order later.

Reopen a saved check and review the order

To retrieve a table’s check, select the restaurant section where it was saved, then tap the appropriate table. Mynt opens a preview showing what was ordered, who placed the order, and the total bill.

You can then choose the action needed for that check:

  • Move the order to another table.
  • Print invoice details or a check copy to give to the customer.
  • Open the check to add more items.
  • Load the check and take payment.

These options let you continue working with the saved order rather than creating a separate check for the next part of the transaction. When the guest is ready to pay, load the check and tap the payment button.

Take payment and close the check

Use the payment screen

The payment screen brings together discounts, check splitting, and payment-method selection. You can apply a discount, split the check, or choose how the customer will pay before closing the sale.

If grouped taxes apply to the check, verify how they’re handled before splitting it or completing payment.

The demonstration uses a combination of cash and card payment: $25 is taken in cash, and the remaining balance is charged to a card. This shows how one check can be paid using more than one payment method.

The payment screen is also where staff can work with a check that needs to be divided, rather than treating every sale as a single payment.

Close a check with Fast Tender

Mynt also includes a Fast Tender button for a quicker way to close a check. In the demonstration, Bob’s previously saved check is opened and closed with a single tap.

This provides another path for completing a sale alongside the payment screen. Both begin with the saved check, keeping payment connected to the order already entered.

Review sales reports and save a copy

They are accessible directly within the system. To open one, tap the Reports button at the top of the screen and select the report you want to view.

The demonstration opens the Item Sales Report with the current month selected. You can change the reporting period to a single day, a month, a year, or a custom date range, depending on the period you need to review.

You can also filter the report by department. Selecting one department narrows the report to that part of the menu, rather than displaying every department together.

After choosing the period and filter, the print button provides options to print or save the report. This lets you review the information on the POS and keep a separate copy when needed.

Inventory, purchasing, and customer tracking

Order entry and checkout are only part of the software’s capabilities. Mynt POS restaurant software supports inventory tracking, purchase orders, and customer tracking. Staff may manage these tasks in the back office.

These functions extend the system beyond individual sales, while the main sales screen remains the starting point for the restaurant workflow shown here. Confirm whether digital menus, online ordering, and remote printers are available for your setup.

When comparing plans, confirm internet connection requirements, technical support, monthly subscription details, any one-year commitment, and whether Mynt Enterprise fits your needs.

A connected process for restaurant checks

Mynt keeps the saved check central to the restaurant transaction. Staff can enter menu choices, return to the order, add items, and accept payment without starting over.

Table-based checks and named to-go orders follow their own entry paths within the same system. Reporting is then available directly on the POS for reviewing sales activity after transactions are complete.
